Good morning, Bergen County. Meetings ahead, decisions behind. Last week's agendas carried money for storm-damaged parks in Wallington, a $2 million bond proposal in Wood-Ridge, cannabis zoning in Paramus and a run of parking and traffic ordinances from Allendale to Tenafly. Monday is Columbus Day, and as of Thursday most towns had not yet posted agendas for this week, so check your town's page before heading out.

Meetings ahead

  • Wood-Ridge, Oct. 20: Public hearing on Bond Ordinance No. 2026-10, which would appropriate $2,000,000 for various public improvements. Oct. 7 agenda

  • New agendas appear on the Bergen County government page as towns post them.

Decisions behind

Wallington: $1.32 million for parks hit by Ida

The Mayor and Council's Oct. 8 agenda included the second reading and adoption of Ordinance 2026-23, a $1,320,000 bond for park improvements needed because of damage from Tropical Storm Ida. Wood-Ridge: parking limits and a $2 million bond

Ordinance No. 2026-9, which changes the borough's schedule of time-limit parking, was up for adoption on Oct. 7, and Bond Ordinance No. 2026-10 was introduced, with its hearing set for Oct. 20. The consent agenda included a veteran tax exemption and the appointment of police sergeants. Meeting page

Paramus: cannabis zoning and new assessor positions

The Oct. 6 agenda introduced ordinances amending the zoning rules for cannabis dispensaries, creating tax assessor and deputy tax assessor positions, and setting up a tree care contractor resource list. It comes as the borough, by TAPinto's account, reluctantly allows a recreational marijuana retailer after a state override. The council also authorized bids for a monument display. Meeting page

Tenafly: a new four-way stop and protected streets

Public hearings on Oct. 6 covered Ordinance No. 26-24, which would make the intersection of Mahan Street and Piermont Road a multi-way stop, and Ordinance No. 26-25, which sets project-specific road-opening controls and a ten-year protected period for newly paved streets. The council also heard an attorney update on proposed zoning permit controls and discussed a policy on LED screens for the amphitheater. Meeting page

Ordinance #26-23, which authorizes parking-control devices to address illegal parking, was up for second reading on Oct. 8. The consent agenda included tax appeal settlements and snow removal contracts, and the meeting opened with a proclamation honoring Darren Kapturski and ModGuard. Meeting page
