Hunterdon County Town Hall: Week of Oct. 26 — $1.5 Million in County Transit Grants, Holland's Sewer Repairs and Union's Flood Rules
Few agendas are posted yet for the week ahead. Behind us: more than $1.5 million in county transportation grants, Holland's $100,000 sewer ordinance, Union's floodplain and stormwater rules, and a tabled Lennar housing ordinance in Raritan Township.
Good morning, Hunterdon County.
Few Hunterdon agendas for the week of October 26 were posted on the sites we follow as of Friday, so this week's brief looks mostly backward. The County Commissioners took up more than $1.5 million in transportation grants and four new roadside mowers, Holland Township put a $100,000 sewer repair ordinance up for final adoption, Union Township moved on new floodplain and stormwater rules, and Raritan Township put a Lennar housing ordinance on hold. Here's the rundown.

Holland Township: $100,000 for sewer lines
The Township Committee's October 20 agenda had Ordinance 2026-23 up for a public hearing and final adoption. It takes $100,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund for improvements and repairs to the township's sewer lines and would take effect ten days after publication, set for October 31. The bill list totaled $3,145,287.50, and the packet included the township's cash management plan, with rules for wire and ACH payments. Holland page.
Union Township: floodplain and stormwater rules
The Township Committee's October 21 agenda had a public hearing on Ordinance #2026-8, amending the township's floodplain management regulations, and introduced Ordinance 2026-14 on first reading, which repeals and replaces the stormwater control section of the land use code (Chapter 30, Section 24). The committee also heard a request for permission to walk and ride horses at Mulligan Farm and discussed a municipal bond for capital improvements and equipment. Union Township page.
Raritan Township: a Lennar housing ordinance is tabled
The Township Committee tabled an ordinance that would have loosened some rules for a planned development at 454 Route 202 and Case Boulevard, with U.S. Home LLC, doing business as Lennar, as the contract purchaser. The project would have up to 158 units, 20 percent of them affordable, and counts toward the township's fourth-round Mount Laurel obligation. The changes included 15 percent open space instead of 20, a 10-acre minimum lot instead of 12, and "stacked townhouses" of up to 16 units per building. Mayor Bradford Perry told TAPinto the planning board asked for more information and the ordinance will be re-noticed. Separately, the committee directed the planning board to study a 35-acre tract at Route 202 and Case Boulevard (Block 40, Lot 5) for redevelopment. Read the TAPinto story.
Califon: leaf pickup and an energy contract
Alongside the curfew, the Borough Council's October 20 consent agenda included Resolution R-65-26, a leaf pickup contract with Interstate Waste Service; R-67-26, applying for a safety and loss control grant; and R-68-26, extending the borough's contract with the Hunterdon Area Energy Cooperative.
