Around the county
- Flemington-Raritan school referendum. The Flemington-Raritan Regional School District laid out its proposed $30.3 million facilities referendum at a Sept. 30 town hall. The work covers roofs, water infiltration, ventilation, flooring, fire alarms, doors and playgrounds at all six schools, with the largest share, about $9.7 million, at J.P. Case Middle School. The district says the state would cover about $12.1 million, and that because older debt is expiring, the debt service portion of the school tax bill would not go up. Voters decide on Nov. 3; the registration deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 13. Another information session is set for Oct. 28 at J.P. Case.
- Readington. The township committee approved an ordinance on mailbox repairs in winter, and it is looking to contract out its IT work.
