Good morning, Sussex County. Mountain Creek's Fall Fest runs its second weekend, the Sussex County Poultry Fanciers hold their fall show at the Fairgrounds, and a Halloween-themed 5K starts Saturday morning. Here is what is on, and a first look at what your local government did this week.

Friday, October 2

Saturday, October 3

Mountain Creek's Fall Fest — 11 AM to 6 PM, 200 Route 94, Vernon. Weekend two of the series, which runs through October 25 with a bonus day on October 12. Sky rides are $14.99, an adventure package pairing a sky ride with the mountain coaster is $29.99, and bounce houses are $9.99, all plus fees and all bought online in advance. The pumpkin patch, lawn games and hay mazes are free; guided hikes with a sky-ride ticket run at noon, 2 and 4. Mountain Creek.

The Haunted Hawk Hustle 5K — 9 AM, with a one-mile walk at 9:30 AM. Registration is open; the price goes up after Friday night. Registration and start details.

Sussex County Poultry Fanciers Fall Show — 9 AM to 3 PM, Sussex County Fairgrounds, Augusta. Fairgrounds calendar.

At town hall this week

Vernon's Township Committee met Monday, September 28; its agenda carried resolutions on tax refunds and cancellations for disabled veterans and a public hearing on the rental of private residential swimming pools.
