Decisions behind
Garfield: license-plate readers and a water bond
At its Oct. 15 work session, the City Council took up Ordinance #3165, which would regulate where automated license plate recognition cameras can be placed and how they are operated on city property, and Ordinance #3166, a $730,000 bond for water utility improvements and equipment. Both were up for first reading. The council also reviewed the 2025 municipal audit, and the consent agenda included the purchase of an electric bus. Garfield, Oct. 15

The Mayor and Council held public hearings Oct. 13 on Ordinance No. 2554, which creates the Ridgefield Community Dog Park, and No. 2555, on tree preservation in the zoning code. The council also introduced 2026-18 and 2026-19, which create overlay zones C and D on Southern Sylvan Avenue to meet the borough's affordable-housing obligations. Captain Keith Wicker and Lieutenant Steve Kochis were honored on their police retirements. Englewood Cliffs, Oct. 14
