Good morning, Sussex County. Mountain Creek's Fall Fest wraps up its last regular weekend, a Halloween night market takes over the fairgrounds on Saturday, and a tribute band brings AC/DC to the Newton Theatre. Here is what is on.

Fall Fest, the last regular weekend

Mountain Creek's Fall Fest runs Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24 and 25, from 11 AM to 5 PM in Vernon. Live music is from 2 to 5 PM both days: Andrea Nies on Saturday and Sean O'Flynn on Sunday. Guided hikes leave at noon, 2 and 4 PM with a Sky Ride ticket.

Sky Rides are $14.99, the Adventure Package (a Sky Ride plus a Mountain Coaster ride in a reserved time slot) is $29.99, and the bounce house wristband is $9.99, all plus fees. Tickets are sold online only and are non-refundable, so check the weather before you buy. The resort has also added two Halloween-weekend days: Saturday, Oct. 31, from 11 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday, Nov. 1, from 11 AM to 4 PM.

A night market at the fairgrounds

The Lunar Faire Night Market runs Saturday from 3 to 10 PM at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta. The lineup includes a potions lab, a haunted barn, a costume contest and fire wire walking. It is an all-ages event with free parking, and tickets are sold in advance with no refunds.

Run, then rock, in Newton

The Newton Pride Foundation's Monster Dash 5K is Saturday morning at Newton High School, with an 8:30 AM start. It raises money for scholarships and student programs, and runners and walkers are asked to bring a canned or nonperishable food item for Benny's Bodega.

That night, Dirty Deeds plays the Newton Theatre. The AC/DC tribute band covers both eras of the group. Doors open at 7 PM and the show starts at 8.

Sunday afternoon: short films at the college

The Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council and Sussex County Community College screen selected shorts from the Thomas Edison Film Festival on Sunday from 3 to 6 PM in the Student Center Theater in Newton. Nine films are on the program, with a Q&A with animator John Schnall at 4 PM and an intermission with snacks. Admission is $25, or $10 for students.

Heads up for Halloween

Sparta's council set a Halloween curfew for anyone under 18, to be enforced from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, according to the Oct. 13 meeting recap. In Green, the township committee's Oct. 19 agenda included resolutions to prohibit parking on parts of Shore Road and Lakeview Drive for Halloween. Check posted signs before you park.

A first look at town hall

It is a light week on the meeting calendar. The Walpack Township Committee meets Tuesday, Oct. 27, and the Vernon Land Use Board meets Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7 PM. Neither agenda is posted yet. Monday's Town Hall brief will have the details, plus what Byram, Green and Sparta took up last week.

More events, including library programs and Halloween happenings, are on the County Brief events calendar.
